Sculptural Sounds The presence of the Arabic letter as a common denominator in all the sculptures appears as though it were an element parallel to the figures (the present – the absent). At times, it is presented as a fundamental component of the artwork, and at other times it functions as a symbol of something beyond itself. Here, the visual scene operates through the alphabet of the letter and its symbolic connotations. The harmony between the letter (sound – form) and these symbols, which parallel its pronunciation, acts as a complement in enriching the subject and leading it into the realm of symbols (semiology).
