Hashim Hannoon (Iraq)

Hashim Hannoon was born in Basra, Iraq in 1957. Hanoon spent 7 years on the battle front and lost two of his brothers in the Iran/Iraq war. In 1979 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad and twenty years later in 1999 he received another BA in sculpture from the same academy.   Hanoon uses mixed media on canvas to reflect his very bright, colorful yet symbolic art work. He believes in the simplification of form and the expression of human feeling though intensity and color. He is a member of the Iraqi Artistic Forming Assembly and of the Babylon Assembly of French Arts. He is a receipt of several international and regional awards and certificates.
